There’ll be stockings-full of festive fun at Nailsworth’s Community Christmas Goodwill Evening on Sunday, December 11, from 2-7pm – and loads of it for free!

Nailsworth Chamber of Trade & Commerce has persuaded Santa and Mrs Claus along, complete with reindeer and sleigh. ‘They’ll be giving out little Christmas stockings to all young children,’ says Sarah Martin of the chamber. ‘What’s more, we’ve free face-painting and lots of free entertainment, including the School of Larks circus skills. And we’ve definitely been promised festive snow – not by the Met Office, but by Snow Business, who are coming to sprinkle a little Christmas magic on the bus station and Mortimer Gardens.’

There will also be the two fairground rides for the little ones; Elsa and Anna from Arendelle (Frozen) will be walking round singing from 3-6pm; and Mortimer Gardens will have their very own Snow Dome.

Adults needn’t worry – there’s plenty for them, too, with 55 Christmas stalls… and music galore – from a one-man-band to Stonehouse Silver Band, with jazz and vocalists in between. What’s more, a dazzling array of seasonal food and drink will be on offer, including beer, mince pies, cakes, sweets, roasted chestnuts, street food and more.

‘Nailsworth is the most fantastic place to shop for Christmas and for any other time of year – you really don’t need to go anywhere else!’ Sarah said.

‘So come into the town, meet the shopkeepers and market traders, get chatting with the locals, and kick off the Christmas season with friends and family. Nothing puts us in a good mood quite like Christmas – the pretty lights, delicious smells and festive tunes are just the things we need to get us through the cold, dark days of winter. See you on December 11!’
